Viral Message:
Kurkure contains plastic and if you do not believe it then burn it and see for yourself.
Many time I have received in my email id and whats up a message from my relatives, friends and my benevolent that Kurkure contains plastic and if you do not believe it then burn it and see for yourself. These messages end
by asking them to forward to all your loved ones. But consumers should know
whether the particular message is true or it is a fake one before forwarding them. So I decided to
do a little research about the various messages. Because each coin has pros and cons hence I
start analysis as I also like to eat Kurkure. First I asked
from my familiar Doctors (Homeopathy, Allopathy as well as Aurvedik)
Doctors states that Kurkure is prepared from normal consumable products such as rice, wheat, maize and grain. Till date, there is no proof of any such
laboratory tests or scientific studies done to support this claim, the message
came from nowhere. Rice and some other grains contain starch (Like rice bran oil is prepared from rice) that some grains contains oil in form of starch. When we use starch on cotton clothes we can find the shiny thing when
starch dries. If you use starch on cotton clothes then you must differentiate it. When we burn kurkure, the plastic
thing we see is nothing but starch as kurkure is made with normal consumer products such as rice, wheat, maize and grain etc.
I
had fully satisfied with Doctors answer as I have used starch on cotton clothes to make them hard after wash, but my research is not stop here. I
start searching on internet and found that many of the web site have analyze
and explain about this issue. I have checked many website and all
website states that Kurkure is safe for health. Even the Kurkure
site has clarified that there is no
plastic in kurkure.
plastic in kurkure.
I
have also discuss this message with my friends and comes to know that
generally competitors companies are bringing and publishing this types
of messages to create panic among the people, and people change their
test.
This message has gone viral a lot and forced Pepsico Company to send their people to search internet and find such links. Plastic is not edible and you can not fry kurkure , it is a fried item. The ingredients include rice meal, corn meal, gram meal, salt, spices, seasonings, etc. and the chances that your kitchen has these in much greater quantity than the packet of Kurkure is pretty huge.
Kurkure does melt when you burn it, but again most of the salty snacks do the same. It burns because it contains carbohydrates. The plastic like substance that you see in kurkure is nothing but starch. The shiny plastic like look of kurkure is that of dried starch, which is not dangerous for health. It is the same thing that you can see over starched cotton shirts, or on rice cookers after the water dries on the side of the vessel.
Apparently Kurkure also released a caution notice against such activities and they can use legal actions if you are found guilty. Please see the below link
